Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of banned practices and monstrous changes reverberate through the shadows." The plot features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The questline centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Features
Players who finish the quest will obtain an special katana in addition to several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Partnerships
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
